iBook
News
Steve Jobs had
this to say about the iBook, the New consumer laptop from
Apple computer that was unveiled at Mac World Expo/New York
in July. "This computer is faster than the fastest Mac
available last year at any price," He also added that the
iBook is on track to ship in about 2 weeks which would put
it in Mid-September (the 14th/15th) .
According to
Steve Jobs, Apple has taken 140,000 iBook pre-orders to
date; and Apple hasn't even begun taking orders in the huge
notebook crazy Japanese market yet !.(Print Ads are
currently showing there.) No word on other
countries.
Just for
comparisons sake when the iMac was announced last year from
the May 6th announcement date to August15th the shipping
date, there were 150,000 pre-orders in that 3 month span. In
just over a month since Apple announced the iBook, there
have been 140,000 pre orders for this machine!
Steve Jobs also
showed off two iBook television spots that were set to be
running on network TV immediately.
Airport
News
At Seybold Steve
Jobs talked about the merits of AirPort, the 11 Mbps
wireless networking option with a 150' range due to debut
along with the iBook but...
The Biggest News
about Airport And I mean really big was when
He announced that an enhanced version of the AirPort Base
Station will accommodate 50 users, up from the 10-user
version the company first announced.
Steve also showed
the new Alien UFO Airport commercial and it's Very cool
!
Conclusion
Once again the
announcements at Seybold shows Steve Jobs & Co. are
listening to their Education, Publishing and consumer
customers to give them what they want and in a
really
big way, And
that's good news for everybody!
